Praying For Missionaries
October 15th, 2010
The gospel’s progress in the world depends on God’s sovereign grace. Yet He has appointed us as his messengers; and missionaries–cross-cultural workers bearing the gospel–are on the front lines of the gospel’s advance. We have a vital role in praying regularly and faithfully for the Spirit to work mightily through missionaries we know and whom our church supports. Samuel Zwemer, a creative missiologist who brought the good news to lands controlled by Islam perceptively said, “The history of missions is the history of answered prayer.”
So, how should you and I be praying for missionaries? That’s the question we’ll answer this Sunday at Grace Church of Alexandria. Matt Bjerk, missionary to Croatia and a friend of mine, will be presenting their ministry and preaching on this question. To prepare, take a few minutes to read through the following Scripture passages to be ready to receive the Word from Matt. As always, the sermon will be posted here at the blog the day it’s preached.
